Maintain Healthy Gums with Periodontal Services

Protect your smile with essential gum tissue and bone restoration procedures

Your gums serve as the foundation for your smile and act as a barrier against tooth decay and oral health problems. If you have gum disease or are not keeping your gums in good shape, you may experience symptoms such as inflamed and bleeding gums, bad breath, and gum recession. Schedule your consultation with periodontal specialists Dr. Vincent LaPorta, Dr. Sejal Thacker, and Dr. Yingying Zhang today for a custom periodontal care plan. We may recommend a gingivectomy, dental bone graft, or other periodontal services to restore the health of your gums and jaw bone.

Periodontal Services Available at Our Practice

  • A gingivectomy is performed to reshape loose gum tissue and reduce pocket depths between the teeth and gums. It is usually performed after all other treatment options for periodontal disease have been explored. This procedure may also be necessary in cases of gum tissue overgrowth.

  • We can help prevent the progression of gum disease with periodontal maintenance therapy. If you have been diagnosed with and treated for gum disease, maintenance visits that involve thorough below-the-gum cleanings and frequent monitoring of periodontal health can reduce your risk of further problems.

  • Restore the natural contours of your mouth and prevent further bone loss with guided tissue regeneration (GTR). We use this technique to help the body regenerate lost bone, save failing dental implants or bridges, and improve the aesthetics of the face and jaw.

  • If you have some bone loss after gum disease, you may be a good candidate for a dental bone graft. We will use the autogenous, allograft, or xenograft technique to rebuild bone structure and restore your jaw bone. Grafting procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia.

  • We can restore the natural contours of your smile and preserve your appearance after tooth loss with a ridge augmentation or preservation procedure. These procedures involve recreating the gum or bone tissue structure with a grafting technique.

  • Also known as a sinus lift, this procedure is needed when there is not enough bone available in the upper jaw to support an implant. The procedure involves gently repositioning the floor of the sinus cavity away from the roots of the teeth or adding bone tissue in this area to create space for the tooth replacement.
