Dental Sedation Services for a Relaxing Visit
Get relief from dental anxiety!
Dental Sedation for a Comfortable Visit
Dr. Vincent LaPorta, Dr. Sejal Thacker, and Dr. Yingying Zhang understand that many patients experience dental anxiety before a visit and may even delay treatment because of fear. If you are hesitating to book that next appointment, talk to us about dental sedation services that can help you feel calm and relaxed. We offer several types of sedation dentistry, including nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation, to ensure all of our patients can look forward to an stress-free dental visit.
Best Candidates for Dental Sedation Services
You may be a good candidate for sleep dentistry if you:
Have a very strong gag reflex
Have a history of traumatic dental experience
Have experienced an anxiety or panic attack before a visit
Have difficulty sitting still for long periods of time
Have a low pain tolerance
Are embarrassed by the state of your teeth and gums
Have missed appointments because of dental anxiety
Feel nervous or anxious about being in the dental chair
Sedation Dentistry Options for All Patients
-
We can help you feel very relaxed and even euphoric by having you inhale nitrous oxide gas through a mask. Most patients feel its effects within minutes and we control the depth of sedation. You will return to normal once the gas is stopped.
-
Intravenous (IV) conscious sedation is effective for managing moderate to severe dental anxiety. Drugs are administered intravenously and you are monitored the entire time.
-
You will take anti-anxiety medication before your visit so that you feel very relaxed and calm during treatment. Most patients feel very sedated and drowsy throughout their visit and will need someone to drive them to and from the office.
-
We can numb certain parts of the mouth by administering anesthetic into the gums or inner cheek. The numbing effect typically lasts for several hours.
-
We can perform a number of procedures by administering a specially formulated gel below the gum line using a comfortable blunt-tipped applicator. With Oraqix®, the numbing effect typically takes place within 30 seconds.
